The Multiply Project
The Multiply Project is a government funded programme to help improve numeracy skills. They aim to do this through tutoring, digital training, and flexible courses.
We want support disabled and autistic adults over the age of 19 with their numeracy skills. This is to help them in everyday situations that we all find ourselves in.
Numeracy skills help solve problems and make sense of numbers, time, and patterns. They help with activities like cooking, reading receipts, instructions and even playing sport.
Why is this project important?
The Multiply Project is important as it will allow us to work with people we support in a bespoke way. We will work closely with them to develop and enhance their numeracy skills. We hope it will encourage them to become more involved with the planning of their sessions.
In the early days of the project, we have already supported over 100 people to improve their skills. We want that number to keep growing.
One person who is benefitting from Multiply is Maria. We asked her what she enjoys about the project and how it is making a difference to her life. She told us “The sessions are really good and fun. They have helped me to improve my counting and adding up, which has helped with with managing my money. Now I can count money and I can buy things in shops.”
