Emily Lodge: A Modern New Home for Short Breaks
We are excited to inform you that our Short Breaks service is moving to a brand-new building in Woking. This modern, purpose-built site has been developed by Surrey County Council as part of its modernisation of the Short Breaks offer, and will allow us to provide a superior experience and even better care to you and your loved ones.

Why Are We Moving?
In March 2023 Surrey County Council Cabinet approved the development of two new modern Short Breaks facilities, one in the East and West of the County. The decision to relocate stems from our commitment to offer the highest standard of care, and to support Surrey County Council’s vision to increase the availability of accommodation for short breaks for adults with learning disabilities and Autism in Surrey. The new Woking site is the first to be developed and offers improved amenities and a more central location, with lots of activities to explore in the area.
New Features:
The new premises features eight spacious en-suite bedrooms designed to be fully accessible to wheelchair users and suitable for those with complex needs. The site also includes communal lounge and dining areas and a sensory room, as well as tranquil landscaped gardens for enjoyment and relaxation.
Opening of Emily Lodge, Woking:
The service will open at the new site on Tuesday April 1st. We plan to open bookings for the new service in February; Karen and the team will keep you informed.
We understand that changes like this may raise questions, and we want to reassure you that our priority is to ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible for everyone who uses the service. Redevelopment of Short Breaks Banstead:
The Banstead site will then be redeveloped to provide a second Short Breaks service on the existing site. The new building is due for completion by March 2026. It is for this reason that Short Breaks Banstead will be closing on Wednesday March 26th 2025. If you have an existing booking after this time, Karen O’Neill (Registered Manager) will be in contact with you to discuss alternative arrangements.

We will be holding an information evening at The Civic Centre, Banstead on Thursday February 6th at 7pm where we will share information and photographs of the new building, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the relocation. We will also keep you updated with newsletters published in February and March.
We cannot wait for you to see the new building and will organise a coffee morning in March for you to explore the facilities. More details on this will be shared soon.
