An EmployAbility customer from Surrey Choices is aiming to s‘elf’ improve this festive period as he hopes to become one of Santa’s helpers. Nick Walewski, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, has been involved with Surrey Choices EmployAbility service for over a year.
He desperately wants to fulfil an ambition to play the part of an elf in the run up to Christmas and is on the lookout for a suitable place to try out his ‘elfing’skills.
Surrey Choices EmployAbility, which supports Nick, has launched a search to help fulfil his Christmas wish.
Surrey Choices EmployAbility is a dedicated service helping customers to find work placements, training, volunteer opportunities and paid work. Surrey Choices listen to their customers to find out what they like to do, their skills and the areas for further training. This helps customers to find work whether this be paid employment or start a business and supports them throughout.
Surrey Choices EmployAbility also runs a job club, which supports individuals to find employment in the future, including helping to write their CVs, setting up email accounts, giving them basic IT skills, interview tips and help with finding a job Nick currently volunteers at a drama group for children and is also a steward for Brooklands Car Muesum.
Nick enjoys meeting and interacting with people, and with his love of drama and working with children he feels this will be a perfect role for him this Christmas.
