How-Well He Plays
Employment Support Specialist, Jackie Brazier, has been working with David to find him more paid work in the music industry. Every Sunday, David works at his local church where he plays the organ for his congregation. Last Sunday marked his 30 years of service and the church decided to honour that landmark.
To commemorate this occasion the church offered David a gift ‘The Organists Bumper collection of 100 Outstanding Pieces’, and a book about the composer and musician Herbert Howells. They also framed a certificate and presented this to David.
David shared “Everyone has been so friendly and supportive. It is a lovely organ to play – one of the finest in the district.”
At the end of the service David played Psalm Prelude by Herbert Howells because he said Howells writes so well for the organ and is his favourite composer – the piece is tinged with nostalgic melancholy which very much connects with him. David finished by saying he hoped he could serve them for another 30 years!
