A prominent spot in the heart of the Staines-upon-Thames community will be soon showcasing the artistic offerings of our Nexus Activity Centre.
Staines public library will be host to the selection of ceramics and paintings produced by customers of Surrey Choices. The popular art group based in Sunbury asked to share their skills in a public space. By teaming up with a local community building, customers have been offered the opportunity to collaborate and produce a full exhibition series for display.
On display will be oil paintings by Russell Clark, a customer of Nexus Activity Centre. Russell said “Before coming to Nexus I had never seriously done any art work. When I tried it I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
“I have had to teach myself to paint as I had an injury which left me partially paralysed. For the past 6 or 7 years I have got use to working in oil paint and most of my work is copied from various picture/subjects including historical scenes.
“It has been good to be able to display my work to others.”
The exhibition held at Staines Library, Friend’s Walk, Staines, TW18 4PG will be available to view during the the normal opening hours of the library between Monday 8 to Friday 12 May 2017.
