Lucy’s journey with Surrey Choices
I have worked together with Surrey Choices since 2014. During my seven years here, I have had a variety of goals and have achieved many different things.
Working on my person centred plan with my key worker Nikki, I decided that I wanted to get out and become more independent as well as learn how to cook by following recipes. I also want to learn how to get to different places on the bus and continue building my core strength in the gym.
Most recently during the last year with the pandemic and lockdown. I have been regaining someone of my core strength doing sit to stand workouts. It has been a big achievement for me.
During lockdown I was also attending a Digital cooking class, so I could learn different recipes and eat healthier. I have also won a few competitions this year. Most recently the ice cream one which raised money for Surrey Choices’ charity of the year – Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership.
I enjoy doing all the different sessions that are available at Surrey Choices, such as art, cooking and starstruck. This enables me to do what I like most, which is seeing my friends and meeting new people and forming friendships.
If I had to describe myself in three words, I would say Happy, Friendly and Helpful.
