Building up strength and confidence
Anne wanted to build up her own strength and confidence to go walking again. She enjoys being on her feet and as a result of lockdown, Anne wasn’t able to get out as much as she did before.
It was important for Anne to stay healthy whilst she was keeping safe at home and so she set a goal for each walk to go further each time, no matter how big or small that extra distance was.
Through the support of her Key worker, Manori Gomes, Anne has been enjoying getting out each week and setting a new goal for the following week.
As Anne’s confidence began to flourish, she decided to set herself a new challenge, to walk to where her sister works so she can visit her during the day. This is roughly a 3.2km walk and in no time, Anne was able to walk the full distance with ease.
Anne’s sister told us how proud she felt at seeing her sister grow in confidence and happiness, while increasing her health as well as her independence in the local area: “I am so happy for Anne, she achieves her goal and each week continues to walk a little bit further”
