A Decade of Difference: Surrey Choices Celebrates 10 Years
Celebrating Success
The Celebrating Success Awards highlight the achievements of people supported by Surrey Choices. The judging panel was comprised of disabled people and colleagues from Surrey Choices. They were impressed by how each of the winners had overcome challenges, achieved new goals and were inspired by the way they demonstrated the values at Surrey Choices.
Working In Partnership with Employers
For the Working in Partnership with Employers judges were looking for organisations that:
- Provided supportive environments
- Helped a person to develop
- Have made change
The Nomination
Stripey Stork collects donations for babies and children, re-homing them with families experiencing hardship across Surrey. They are extremely understanding of the needs of disabled and autistic people. People can volunteer when they want, and they make adjustments to allow people to do this.
They use visual aids to help volunteers know what tasks to do. The signs are there to ensure no one becomes confused or forgets what to do. The team listens to the needs of each volunteer and comes up with solutions to ensure that everyone can join in.
The judges were impressed at how this organisation is seeking to create an inclusive workplace for people of all abilities. They found the use of visual signage particularly inspiring.
