Cooking Classes
One of the people we support, Christopher, attends around 18 of our Zoom sessions a week whilst he is keeping safe at home.
Out of those 18 sessions Chris attends three cookery classes where he learns new skills and recipes. He has also been taking his efforts to an elderly neighbour up the road to share the food and to show her what he has learnt.
Supporting Their Neighbour
The Zoom sessions combined with Chris’ enthusiasm has enabled a new relationship to form in the community. Chris and his dad now regularly chat to their neighbour from a distance whilst providing her with homemade food on a weekly basis.
Their neighbour was so appreciative of Chris’ work, commitment and cooking skills. So, with this in mind, she arranged for a custom apron to be made with the words ‘Head Chef’ alongside his name.
Outcomes
Christopher is a fun guy to have around, he is charming, creative and loves to help people. He has made new friends attending these cookery classes, as well as learning life skills and making a difference in his community.
It is great having Chris join in the cooking classes. He’s full of cheer and cheek each week. It’s great to see him using skills and cooking along. He’s always so proud of the outcome he saves the recipes each week and has a large folder full of them now he’s very sociable and always makes sure everyone is ok.
