Connor wanted to attend more community-based activities. He was particularly keen to get back into swimming which is his favourite thing to do.
Colleagues Support
Connor is supported on a 2:1 basis by colleagues when out in the community. He needs explaining about where he is going, what he will be doing, and the appropriate behaviour. The key for colleagues is to spot the signs of Connor feeling anxious early on, to support him calmly and safely. Connor has a communication device at all times so he is able to express his wants and needs are.
Gaining Confidence
Over time, Connor has become familiar with the places he has been visiting which has helped his anxiety. He has been taking part in more activities in the community such as walking, bowling and of course swimming. Connor now wants to attend swimming on a weekly basis and already enjoys going to golf sessions each week.
