Councillor Sinead Mooney joins launch of Surrey Choices’ new Celebrating Success Customer Awards
Surrey Choices launched their new Celebrating Success Customer Awards last week at Marianne’s Community Cafe in Staines. The cafe is run by Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership, which is Surrey Choices’ Charity partner for 2021. A group of people we support from Nexus Activity Centre were joined by Surrey Choices Managing Director, Mette Le Jakobsen and Cllr Sinead Mooney, Cabinet Member for adults, who helped to make the event a huge success.
The awards launch presentation was hosted online via Zoom to a virtual audience, whilst a group of people we support through Nexus were present at the cafe.
Mette Le Jakobsen welcomed people live from the cafe and on Zoom at the beginning of the presentation. This was followed by a presentation explaining what the awards are for, and how to nominate.
The Customer Awards are Surrey Choices’ first ever organisation-wide awards for the people we support. The awards are to say well done to people for making progress or achieving their goals.
There are four categories of awards for the people we support, which align to outcomes people told us were important as part of our Changing Days programme:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Friends, Relationships and Community
- Independent Living and Life Skills
- Employment, Volunteering and Vocational Learning
Two additional Partnership awards with community and employees celebrate organisations that promote inclusion.
Mette Le Jakobsen commented:
“Surrey Choices has a rich history in celebrating the achievements of the people who we support, but this year marks the launch of an organisation wide effort to do just that.”
Cllr Sinead Mooney was also delighted to be present:
“I am here today with Surrey Choices, to help them celebrate their Customer Awards. It is a really successful session so far acknowledging the work of people to meet their goals, targets and priorities.”
