One of the people we support, Mark, has always been into cycling and used to ride regularly. For a few years Mark has been without a bicycle and unable to ride until Christmas 2020. Mark opened up a brand new bike from his sister which he was pleasantly surprised about.
Mark is very sociable, fun and loves new activities. So with the support of his Senior Activity Facilitator, Mark is on a mission to get fit and explore his community independently.
Mark has also been learning about bicycle maintenance, road safety and the multitude of cycling paths in Surrey.
The impact upon receiving this bike has meant that Mark no longer feels restricted to where he can travel. He can now move more freely, quickly and independently around his community. This will also have a great impact on his mental and physical wellbeing as he is exercising more regularly and doesn’t feel restricted in his movements.
It is good that Mark is getting out more, I think cycling has been really good for him. He said that his legs were aching after the last ride, but he really enjoyed himself! – Elaine (Mark’s sister)
