Digital Sport Talk Sessions
Some of the people we support at Fernleigh Activity Centre have been eager to start a ‘Sport Talk’ online session to discuss the latest headlines in the world of sport, the health benefits of being active as well as testing their knowledge with sport quizzes.
The aim of the Sport Talk session is to increase social interaction and communication as well as learn about the health benefits of taking part in sport. Surrey Choices Colleagues Clare Birkett and Ian Johnson are also in the process of supporting people to go out into the community to take part in sports and attending sporting events when it is safe to do so.
So far the Zoom sessions have had lots of positive interaction from the people that have taken part. Salvatore and Carinder who have been taking part in the Zoom sessions, have been teaching Cheryl and Kerry about the game of Boccia and suggested that they meet up with colleagues in the community to teach them how to play.
Surrey Choices colleague Clare said:
“It is nice to see like-minded people sharing their interests in these sessions. When we head out in the community it will have a positive impact on their fitness and health, whilst working on their life skills.”
