Painting the town red
Emma has always dreamed of one day working as a painter-decorator. After she finished school, she enrolled herself into a course to learn all the skills she would need. It was not always easy and despite difficulties along the way, with the help of family and friends, she persevered and completed a Level 1 Painting and Decorating qualification.
Working with her Employment Support Specialist, Emma found some voluntary work at a Care Home in Epsom, where she is now excelling. The home’s manager says that Emma “just gets on with it”, needing minimal supervision.
Roles and Responsibilities
Her work rate is improving by the minute, and she loves to see all the results of her hard work. Emma has lots of responsibilities and is in charge of ordering the painting and decorating supplies that she needs online and has also helped with other tasks like cleaning when others need a hand. She chips in and helps in the home whenever she can and really enjoys the company of the residents.
Now in her spare time Emma enjoys doing decorating for her family and friends for free, to say thank you for all of their amazing support to achieve her dream.
