EmployAbility tours the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre
A group of people we support in the West of Surrey are all interested in working the theatre industry. Whether that be behind the scenes, doing the lighting or on stage. So, they wanted to learn more about the theatre environment and roles that could be on offer.
Employment Support Specialist, Rachael Britton, arranged a group to visit the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
Rhiannon, Creative Director at Yvonne Arnaud, gave the group a tour of the theatre, and chatted about some of the areas within the theatre including sound effects, backstage and props. Rhiannon was able to answer questions from the group to help them understand what sort of roles were available within those departments.
Outcomes
Those who attended are now able to understand more about what is available within the theatre environment. Over the next few months, the theatre will be looking at setting up some more specific workshops, such as lighting, prop management and stewarding. This will give people some further opportunities to develop skills within these areas.
Everyone gave great feedback about the session. They enjoyed looking round the theatre and understand more about the roles available.
One family member spoke about how much K enjoyed the theatre visit.
“K really enjoyed the session, and great to be able to see behind the scenes of the theatre. Thank you for organising.”
