Staff and customers from Surrey Choices are gearing up to get in the saddle and raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
Surrey Choices will be supporting staff and customers to take part in Wear it Pink Day by completing a spinathon, cycling the distance from Woking to Brighton, and back.
The spinathon will take place on Wednesday 19 October at the Woking Resource Centre, between 10am-2pm, where Surrey Choices staff and customers will cycle continuously for four hours.
Woking Resource Centre, based in the heart of the local community, is a fully–accessible centre for adults with a physical disability. The centre offers a wide variety of activities, including cooking sessions, arts and crafts and open college network courses tailored for each individual.
Wear It Pink, an annual event during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raises approximately £2 million each year, for the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.
Throughout the fundraising event, where everyone is encouraged to wear pink, there will be a cake sale, a photo booth with props and lots of games taking place to raise money for the worthwhile cause.
This is the third year Surrey Choices has got involved in Wear it Pink Day and supported Breast Cancer Now, after holding a five hour treadmill marathon last year, raising over £350.
Amanda Wilson, Project Leader for Woking Resource Centre, said: “Getting involved in Wear It Pink day has become an annual event in the calendar at Working Resource Centre, and we’re all really looking forward to the fundraising event, it will be a fabulous day. Cancer charities hold a special place in many of our hearts, as it’s something that many of us have been affected by, so we are all very proud to be taking part. We hope to raise lots of money for this fantastic charity, whilst enjoying a day of fun and games.”
