Greater steps towards independence with EmployAbility
James joined EmployAbility whilst he already had a job. He was looking for an alternative role that better suits his interests.
James has recently taken a step towards greater independence by moving out of his father’s home, moving into supported living, and starting a new job, all in a different city.
Employment Support Specialist, Debbie, supported James by providing wellbeing checks, making sure he has the support he needs, and providing job searching updates. Debbie was consistently impressed by James, from his membership of The Special Olympics Team to his purple belt in Karate.
Rubens King, Employment Support Specialist, then continued to support James by providing travel training and attending interviews together.
Outcomes
James has secured a front of house job in a café in the local community that he can travel independently to and from. When asked about his new role, James expressed “I love working here and serving customers.”
James has settled into his new job and home really well. He enjoys helping people in the community. “We are incredibly proud of James. His courage shines at every step.” Rubens King, Employment Support Specialist
