
Our Individual Spotlight feature is on Jessica, who is supported by EmployAbility. Read her interview below to find out some of her outcomes, whats she likes about Surrey Choices, and what she does in his spare time.
How long have you been supported by Surrey Choices?
I have been supported by EmployAbility for around three years now. So, I am a customer and a colleague within Surrey Choices.
What have been some of the outcomes of being supported by EmployAbility?
I achieved my goal of getting paid employment back in 2020. I worked as a Care Assistant for Surrey County Council. After lockdown, I joined Surrey Choices as a Bank Activity Facilitator at Longmead.
What do you most like about being supported and employed by Surrey Choices?
I get to be involved in co-production in both roles and support other people to achieve their goals. I also like that the staff teams are supportive and are always doing their best to support people.
What sort of things do you do during your working days?
I am currently helping with co-production as part of the core co-production group. I attend customer interview panels. I most recently judged the Celebrating Success Customer Awards, which I really enjoyed doing. I have also supported a group of people in Community Choices with healthy eating sessions.
What are your goals or dreams?
My dream is to visit New York City.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy going to concerts and I like listening to music. My favourite artist is Lady Gaga, I am seeing her in July! I also like spending time with my friends.
What is something new you have tried this year?
I signed up to try Piloxing at my local gym. It is a mixture of boxing and pilates. I really like the boxing side of the exercise!
How would your friends or family describe you?
Kind, caring, and helpful.
What are you most excited about for the future?
I am excited about progressing in my career in Adult Social Care.
