Our Individual Spotlight feature is on Justin who is supported by our Community Choices service. Read his interview below to find out what he is achieving with Surrey Choices and the impact that it is having on him, achievements that he is proud of and much more.
What three words would your family and friends use to describe you?
“Loves meeting people.”
I love talking to people about the things that I have done. I recently made a friend called Lily at the gym, and this year we bought each other biscuits as Christmas presents.
What do you like about Surrey Choices?
I like being with my friends, that is really important to me. I love it now that I am out in the community as I meet lots of new people. I like the people at the Spire Café where I have lunch and also at the leisure centre
Last year you won a Celebrating Success Award for Health and Wellbeing. What was it like to attend the award ceremony?
I went with my brother and he was very proud of me as I had won my award, and I could tell him all about the good things I have done, like raising money for charity.
What is something you are looking forward to over the next few months?
I am doing a sponsored X Trainer at the gym for Action for Carers. It makes me feel that I am helping people who need help.
What would you say to someone who is thinking of nominating their friend for an Award?
I have recently started bartending and doing lots of shifts at my local theatre, working behind the bar. I enjoy it but it is very busy at the moment with panto season in full swing!
What is something you are looking forward to over the next few months?
I liked listening to what people had said about me, it made me feel good, and it would make other people feel good to hear good things about them. I liked also nominating someone else I knew what I wanted to say about them and it makes you feel good saying good things about them.
