Our Individual Spotlight feature is with Philip. In the interview below he discussed how he kept his fitness up during the lockdowns and goals he wants to achieve in the gym moving forward.
What activities do you like doing the most?
Before the pandemic, I really liked doing different sports and keeping active. I liked Rebound therapy at Surrey Choices, playing badminton and bowling.
How did you keep up you fitness during lockdown?
I took part in different exercises classes online through Digital Choices. I really liked the Seated Gentle Exercise classes which helped me look after my health during the lockdowns.
What was something you were really excited to do again this year?
I really wanted to get back to seeing my friends and taking part in exercise in the community.
What sort of new things are you doing now with Surrey Choices?
I go to Woking Leisure Centre and like using the gym there.
When you are in the gym, what type of things do you like to do?
I started off doing floor bases activities, like throwing or rolling medicine balls. These are things I learnt during online seated exercises classes with Surrey Choices.
What goals do you want to achieve at the gym?
I want to be more confident and use some different equipment. I was supported by some staff, now I love using different equipment like the rowing machine. I want to continue to use different machines and improving my health and fitness.
