Individual Spotlight: Sharon

Our Individual Spotlight feature is on Sharon, who is supported through our Community Choices service. Read and watch her interview below to find out what she does in his spare time, what she likes about Surrey Choices and much more.

Where did you learn Makaton?

I have been signing for a long time, over 20 years, and learnt at school. I love signing and used to work for the Makaton Charity, which meant going to different places and showing people how to sign.

What is your favourite thing about coming to Surrey Choices?

I love coming to the Harbour (Surrey Choices hub) and seeing my friends. When I am at the Harbour, I like to go swimming and going out for lunch at the pub. I also enjoy going to the gym and I like to keep busy. I do not like bank holidays because the Harbour is shut!

What are you looking forward to in the coming months?

I am looking forward to seeing Gary Barlow in London in September! I am also planning a big party for my 50th birthday next year. We are also going to do a Christmas service this year so I am excited to practice signing along to the songs.

What are three words your family or friends would use to describe you!?

Crazy, funny and caring.
