The Celebrating Success Awards highlight the achievements of people supported by Surrey Choices. The judging panel was comprised of disabled people and colleagues from Surrey Choices. They were impressed by how each of the winners had overcome challenges, achieved new goals and were inspired by the way they demonstrated the values at Surrey Choices.
Health and Wellbeing Award
For the Health and Wellbeing award judges were looking for individuals who had:
- Achieved one of their goals
- Learnt methods to improve their health and wellbeing or;
- Helped other to improve their health and wellbeing
Justin was nominated by a friend at Surrey Choices. They told us how hard he has worked on his health and fitness this year. He has learnt to concentrate on his exercises in the gym and he can now clean down gym equipment before and after use, as well as learning lots of new swimming techniques. What makes his achievement even more amazing is that he encouraged his friends to join in a sponsored swim, where he swam 100 lengths of the pool and fundraised for our Local Charity of the Year.
The judging panel thought swimming 100 lengths of the pool was very impressive. Not only has this person improved his own physical health and mental wellbeing but he has also encouraged his friends to help him fundraise for former Charity of the Year.
When Justin found out that he had won he said:
“I was so happy when I found out I won the Health and Wellbeing Award”
