Come along to a Woodwork taster sessions at Lockwood Activity Centre to learn all about the art of woodworking!
Visitors to our centre, based on Westfield Road in Guildford, will have the opportunity to extend their skills and acquire the knowledge of how to transform secondhand pieces of wood into new and exciting items, from garden features such as bird tables and planters, to key rings and wooden toys for children.
The taster sessions are open on an ongoing basis to new customers who express an interest and can be tailored to meet individual needs, with all tools, personal protective equipment and materials supplied as part of the project.
Amy Amber, Senior Activity Facilitator at Surrey Choices said: “We are really looking forward to introducing new people to the workshop, where our skilled woodworker, Doug Crosby, will support individuals to develop their skills and create attractive items. Members of the public will then be able to purchase these items for bargain prices, with any profits going back into the project to buy new materials and tools.
“Our activities are tailored especially for each person to ensure that they can be given the opportunity to try out new and exciting projects whilst giving them a real confidence boost and sense of pride in their work”
The Lockwood Activity Centre encompasses a variety of rooms for activities for individuals with a wide range of support needs, including learning disabilities, autism and dementia. Activities available to customers include art, dance, cookery, textiles, hydro pool, jewellery making and sensory sessions.
