Learning to travel independently to work
Connor has thrown himself into any opportunity that becomes available to him whilst looking for work experience. As a result, he has three separate volunteering placements in different sectors.
Like many of us, Connor found lockdowns extremely tough. It was important for Connor as lockdown eased that he returned to his placements to gain a routine again and interact with other people.
Since doing so, Connor’s Mum has said their family have seen him really grow and that they have got their old Connor back.
Travel Training
Connor recently started his third volunteering role at Riding for the Disabled, which perfectly suits him as he is passionate about horses. Connor has successfully undertaken some travel training to get to his placement.
He now travels to and from the stables independently. His journey involves a bus ride and a short walk to and from the bus stops.
“A huge well done to Connor for his commitment to all of his placements. His confidence has increased and he is becoming more independent” Lauren Barnes
