Person Centred Plan leads to employment
Lewis has been working with Employment Support Specialist, Hadden Farmer, to achieve his main goal of getting a paid job. Lewis and Hadden worked together on his person centred plan to find out what type of jobs Lewis would like to do.
They decided that his love of history and previous job experience working in a kitchen meant they had a good idea of where Lewis would like to work; his local museum.
Lewis wants to achieve independence and a routine that gives him satisfaction. He hopes to earn money to purchase his own things, meet new people and grow friendships. Lewis worked on interview techniques to prepare for his interview and trial shift in the kitchen area at Brooklands Museum.
Lewis did really well throughout his interview and trial shift. The Kitchen Manager at Brooklands Museum was highly impressed and offered Lewis the job.
”It was amazing seeing Lewis so happy working, it was a wholesome experience. It felt lovely to be making a difference to someone’s life. Having watched him in that working environment, you cannot pay for that feeling, watching someone so happy and content is a rewarding feeling.” – Hadden, Employment Support Specialist.
The outcome of this paid position will have a huge impact on Lewis. The job role is closer to his home, there is a clear job progression pathway and he is earning more money by working more hours. Lewis said “I am so happy to be working at the cafe at the museum, I love it.”
