Securing a dream role
Jim recently began a volunteer role at Brooklands Museum, a big step on his journey towards employment. The Museum is a motoring and aviation site, and its aim is to conserve, protect and interpret the unique heritage of the Brooklands site.
Jim currently volunteers every Wednesday whilst he becomes familiar with his new work environment. He also has the potential of adding extra volunteering days to his schedule once he feels comfortable to do so.
With an interest in motoring and aviation, Jim spends his free time researching information on the history of the museum so he can pass on his knowledge to the visitors. He focuses his day at work giving each customer a warm friendly welcome as they explore the museum.
Jim is really enjoying his new role and feels his confidence is growing all the time. He is developing many skills as he embarks on his employment journey.
Employment Support Specialist, Hadden Farmer commented: “Jim is becoming a valued team member at Brooklands Museum and is making new friends that support him. It is a great achievement for Jim, and I am really pleased he has settled in well.”
