Shared Lives
Shared Lives is a national scheme that offers a unique and community-based model of care and support.
At Surrey Choices our Shared Lives Carers open their home, family and community life with an adult that we support. An arrangement can be long term where customers live with a carer, stay for a short break or have day support.
Living with a Shared Lives family provides the people we support with a supportive home environment, independence and a place to learn new skills.
Robert
Robert has previously told his Scheme Worker how much he enjoyed cycling. He had an adult tricycle that he used to ride, but unfortunately due to weather conditions the tricycle was beyond repair and had to be thrown away.
Day Trip
Robert’s Shared Lives Carers booked a surprise day out to Epsom bike track. On the day, Robert knew there was a surprise planned but it was kept secret until he arrived. He wore a blindfold in the car to add to the excitement.
When Robert arrived at the track, he was delighted to see the bikes and was eager to get on them. It was a rainy Saturday morning but Robert and his Shared Lives Carers had their waterproofs and put all their efforts into riding round the track as long as possible.
