We had our first staff Annual Achievers Awards event this week, paying tribute to the exceptional achievements of company employees.
The ceremony looked back at our work over the last 12 months supporting nearly 2000 adults with support needs or disabilities across the county.
The Awards evening was held at Woking’s HG Wells Conference and Events Centre, and was hosted by Steve Walls, compere for many of the care sector’s top events including the National Learning Disability Awards. The evening’s entertainment was provided by Surrey Choices customer David Lowe, who performed his renditions of popular songs.
VIP guests attending the event included Surrey County Council Deputy Leader, Cllr John Furey (Cabinet Member for Economic Prosperity), Cllr Bernie Muir, and Surrey Choices Chairman Kevin Kilburn, Deputy Chief Finance Officer for Surrey County Council.
Award winners on the night included The Growth Team, with a Special Achievement award for helping people to gain practical and employment skills. An individual Special Achievement award went to Rosanna Marsh, a Nexus full-time employee. The ‘Unsung Hero’ Awards went to Drama workshop leader Alex Haben of Camberley, and Martin Woodward, a former EmployAbility Team customer. ‘Going the Extra Mile’ was awarded to Lydia Simpson and Karen Robinson.
From the winners on the night, the ‘Overall Star Achiever’ award went to Rosanna Marsh, and the ‘Surrey Choices Board Award for Exceptional Service’ went to Robert Dicken, who has been working at Fernleigh as Team Administrator for 14 years.
Our Managing Director, Penny Fell, said: “The first Surrey Choices Achievers Awards evening has been an outstanding success.”
She added: “The event is a fantastic way to salute the work of our staff who, day in and day out, make a real difference to the quality of the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of the Surrey community.”
