The Grand Bug-and-pest Hotel
Carl and Joe have been attending Laleham for some time. Both Carl and Joe have worked hard, learning gardening skills like mowing lawns, planting seeds and woodwork skills.
Carl and Joe decided they would like to create a project which helped improve the environment and after some discussion and research decided to make ‘Bug Hotels’.
To help make the project even more sustainable they tried to only use objects which were found at Laleham. They collected leaves, cones, twigs and stones. Carl and Joe carefully assembled the box, intertwining twigs with leaves and stacking wood shavings into the bee box which they had drilled holes into for access. They also drilled holes into the branches to give the insects places to bury into. Once the boxes were assembled they chose where to put them and are looking forward to attracting some insects.
