Time to Talk Day
Time to Talk Day is about making space in your day to have conversations about mental health. The campaign aims to create supportive communities by having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health. We all have mental health and by talking about it we can support ourselves and others.
Our Mental Health First Aiders
Recently a number of our qualified Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) undertook their refresher training, looking at how to support someone who is struggling with their mental health. Some of the things they looked at included:
- What is mental health?
- Stress factors which influence mental health
- Mental health stigma
- Different mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and psychosis
- Practicing Mental Health First Aid skills
Jo Smith, Mental Health First Aider, shared “I am proud to be a MHFA and feel more confident to have hard conversations if needed. I also think talking is one of the best healers and if I can help someone do that and they feel even a little better afterwards then I have achieved something good.”
