‘Unseen Artists’ Exhibition at Farnham Maltings
People supported in the East of Surrey have been working on art pieces to display their impressive stitch panels in the community. After delays and postponements due the Covid 19 pandemic, their work was finally unveiled to the public. Their art was recently displayed at the ‘Unseen Artists’ Exhibition at the Long Kiln Gallery in Farnham.
The Exhibition
The exhibition supports groups and individuals who do not have access to public presentations of their art, including those who have a disability.
Displaying art in the community
This exhibition was an excellent opportunity to display their work to the public. Working on art boosts their wellbeing and makes the group feel part of their community. The artwork was originally meant to be showcased in an exhibition in June 2020. This was cancelled because of Lockdown so, the Unseen Artists exhibition at Farnham Maltings was an ideal opportunity to show the completed work for the first time.
Community Support Worker, Helen, spoke to the group following the exhibition. They were “delighted and happy that their work was finally put on display in the community”
