A Decade of Difference: Surrey Choices Celebrates 10 Years
We are pleased to announce that one of our Growth Team’s projects is being supported by Anchor West Hall care home.
The Growth Team, a group of people who are taught and supported by Surrey Choices to carry out practical gardening, landscaping and maintenance work across the local countryside and its public spaces, have now been invited by Anchor West Hall to work in the grounds of the listed manor house in West Byfleet.
Some of the other projects the team are involved in include working on private gardens, countryside management, maintaining private estates and looking after nature reserves.
West Hall General Manager Tracy Manzi has welcomed the workers into the grounds and asked the team to help tame the trees overgrowing on to the pathways around the grounds.
“We want to create a safe pathway for our residents to navigate,” said Tracy. “The trees, as beautiful as they are, are in need of some attention. Surrey Choices are giving us an excellent service and we are more than thrilled to welcome them each week to West Hall.”
Jessica Williams Surrey Choices Marketing and Communications Manager said: “Since November seven of our customers have been working at West Hall. They have been learning to use gardening equipment and these are skills they can then use in future projects.”
“It’s such a lovely environment for the team to come to work and learn. There are plans in place for the Growth Team to improve the view for residents down to the River Wey and to create wildlife friendly areas and wildflower meadows. The residents often come and speak to them while they work, and to keep an eye on their work!”
