Becoming a paid employee
Following the completion of his work experience with Glendale Gardening Service, Damien is now on the Future Choices programme. After a successful application and interview with Guildford Borough Council, Damien is now a paid employee within Childcare Services.
Damien’s story starts as a Future Choices pre-intern. Alongside his Employment Support Specialist, Rubens King they worked together on his Person Centred Plan. There he shared that he has an interest in gardening and was keen to improve his team working skills to gain employment.
Employment Support Specialist, Lauren Barnes shared a contact from Glendale Landscaping and Ground Maintenance with the team. They found out there would be some work experience available which was a good fit for Damien and following a successful interview, Damien started work experience with Glendale.
“I am proud of Damien for getting stuck in and working so well as part of a dynamic team. I am really excited about his future employment prospects.” Rubens King.
The work experience opportunity enabled Damien to meet new people, learn new skills and work in a team environment amongst many other things. Alongside Damiens’s tenacity to find paid employment, these are all contributing factors to his job success with Guildford Borough Council.
