Working with Animals
Beth is really passionate to achieve employment in the field of working with animals. Beth has a condition that can stop her from gaining work due to passing out without warning, and needs extra consideration when sitting and standing for long periods as this is one of the factors that can bring about episodes of passing out.
Beth began receiving support from EmployAbility with the goal to find work experience within animal care and have some extra support from colleagues with her condition to make her feel more confident whilst out working.
Due to the new ways of working over the last year, Beth has been supported to produce and deliver online sessions for other people to raise awareness of animal care. This has allowed her to engage in a customer facing role and develop further skills required to move towards a paid role, as well as consider other options of employment such as delivering training.
Beth has grown in confidence and now delivers two different animal management online sessions to the people we support, as well as currently developing a training course on autism to be delivered online to help raise awareness.
Beth is really enjoying her experiences of offering online sessions to other people about something she loves. It has allowed Beth to be more confident in her engagement with others and feel valued, that she does have something to offer and give back.
