Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Marketing Assistant is to support the growth of Surrey Choices through targeted and effective marketing and publicity. The Marketing Assistant will initiate, deliver and monitor marketing campaigns and activities to enhance the reputation of Surrey Choices among key stakeholders, as well as supporting Surrey Choices to deliver their Strategic Objectives and Organisational Priorities. They will design insight-led campaign plans tailored to reach target audiences, through creative and innovative approaches to communicating messages and engaging stakeholders. They will make use of appropriate tools including digital advertising, PR, printed materials and events. They will work collaboratively with the people we support, local communities, suppliers and will work closely with colleagues in the Communications Team and other teams.

Key Responsibilities: 

Marketing

  • To create content and design communications to key stakeholders for marketing purposes
  • To work with the Marketing and Communications team to create campaigns to both inform and engage and to promote Surrey Choices
  • To lead on external communications through a variety of media which will market Surrey Choices
  • To update and create marketing materials when needed eg printed leaflets
  • To produce Press ReleasesK and create content for these
  • To build relationships with the media, partner organisations and those who distribute news
  • To research and monitor competitors


Digital Media

  • To develop and maintain digital platforms including the Surrey Choices Website
  • To create engaging and user-friendly content for all digital platforms
  • To keep digital footprint up to date including directories and listings on external websites
  • To drive traffic to the Surrey Choices website
  • To continually work on the Search Engine Optimisation of the Surrey Choices Website
  • To assist in developing a social media strategy to support business development and growth
  • To promote Surrey Choices through social networking ensuring all content is accurate, relevant and meets brand guidelines
  • Interacting and communicating through social networking sites with customers, partners and accounts to build and develop relationships
  • To track and record digital analysis to support the evaluation, development and promotion of digital content


Marketing Support for Surrey Choices Services

  • To work with other employees of Surrey Choices in their functional area in addition to colleagues in the County Council and other relevant stakeholders as appropriate
  • To work closely with all relevant stakeholders, to support organisational and local marketing drives
  • To take part in focus groups and meetings for marketing and product ideas when required
  • Provide support and maintain relationships with Surrey Choices services for brand house style, promotion of services and with business growth
  • Network with key internal staff including local managers, support service staff and communication leads
  • To support the Marketing and Communications team and work as an effective member of the team
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all customers, families and Carers, colleagues and other professionals
  • To support with on-boarding experience for new members of staff including targeted marketing campaigns
  • To support on-boarding experience for new customers to Surrey Choices and support with customer care
  • To build standardised methodology for consumer feedback


Coordinating and Planning Events

  • Research and plan external events for Surrey Choices to participate in
  • Coordinate attendance and attend relevant networking and communication meetings and external events
  • Coordinate promotional materials including ordering and distributing for use at events
  • Plan and distribute printed materials for use for marketing
  • Analyse and report on events


Community Engagement Including Corporate Responsibility

  • To actively engage with those in the community to promote Surrey Choices and to support local issues
  • Working with our chosen charity to create PR and partnership opportunities
  • To liaise with the community to support and work in partnership for fundraising

  • Maintain professional and personal boundaries with all customers, parents & carers, colleagues and other professionals

Co-production and Involvement:

  • Ensure people we support have a person-centred, outcome focused, support plan and that each individual and their circle of support have been involved in drawing up their plan.
  • Ensure people we support and their circle of support are involved in regularly reviewing and implementing outcome and progression based support plans.
  • Ensure the rights of people we support are promoted and respected at all times in compliance with the Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty guidelines and Surrey Choices policies and procedures.
  • Ensure opportunities are provided for the people we support to engage in decision making in relation to activity which affects them, e.g. recruitment of new colleagues.
  • Provide opportunities for the people we support to speak up at local and organisational levels, as well as opportunities to engage with self-advocates and their organisations outside Surrey Choices.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and colleagues, delivering key messages from the Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team and provide timely feedback as appropriate. Safeguarding and Safety
  • Be accountable for the safeguarding of people we support in line with Surrey Choices safeguarding policies, statutory requirements and local authority protocols.
  • Ensure that risk assessments and emergency plans are in place, all support plans are implemented and reviewed, working practices are safe, and that staff members are adequately trained.
  • Ensure that safeguarding incidents and medication errors are appropriately reported in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and reporting accidents and incidents in line with Surrey Choices policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and undertake any such investigations as appropriate in relation to safe and high-quality service delivery including, but not limited to, disciplinary, grievance and safeguarding matters.
  • Ensure the working environment is safe, well maintained, equipment is fit for purpose and appropriate for the needs of people we support.

  • Ability to create content which is user-friendly, meets brand guidelines and engaging
  • Ability to evaluate and report on marketing activities and to use data to drive decisions and influence conversations
  • Excellent communication skills for a range of different audiences
  • Excellent copywriting, and editing skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, to use initiative, and the ability to identify and escalate priority issues

  • Experience of using WordPress, google analytics and Adobe Creative Suite
