Title: Maternity Cover – Marketing and Communications Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Accountable to: Managing Director
Location: Surrey – contractual base is flexible, with the option of home-working
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Dates: Full Time Fixed Term Contract – May 2021 – May 2022 (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £36,000 – £39,340 per annum

Job Purpose

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the delivery of the
Marketing and Communications Strategic Delivery Plan in accordance with Surrey
Choices’ Core Values and Joint Strategic Plan which sets out a transformative vision for
achieving fulfilling and inclusive lives of disabled people in Surrey.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead the Marketing and
Communications Team and provide expert advice and leadership to the Senior
Leadership Team on all communications and engagement and marketing matters.

Taking the lead on internal and external communications to all key stakeholders, the
post-holder is accountable for raising the profile of Surrey Choices through effective
marketing activities, as the arbiter of quality standards for the Surrey Choices brand.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Communications and Change Programmes

● To communicate effectively with colleagues and to continually seek to improve
workforce engagement.
● To align communications with the Surrey Choices transformational change
programme, explaining the reasoning behind changes and to communicate as
one organisation to build trust and increase morale.

External Communications and Engagement

● Improve communication and engagement with the people Surrey Choices
supports and their families and Carers, and to provide easily accessible ways to
provide feedback.
● To improve accessibility for all communications.
● To uphold quality standards and company branding.

Marketing and Brand Awareness

● To raise the profile of Surrey Choices through social change and values driven
impact storytelling to make people in the community aware of what we do and
how we can support people, including managing the website, social media and
Public Relations.
● To form and maintain productive and mutually beneficial relationships with key
partners, in particular Surrey County Council, for strategic projects and sensitive
matters.
● To portray a positive image of Surrey Choices to all stakeholders and to change
perceptions in the community of disabled people, creating opportunities to
remove barriers and stigma for the purpose of social change.

Leadership and Management

● To act as a lead and expertly advise the Senior Leadership Team on all
communications and engagement matters.
● To work with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver effective campaigns across
the organisation in line with the strategic vision.
● To effectively manage the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring
optimum performance of the team in line with the organisation’s values and
policies and procedures.
● To oversee the commission of external specialists including Design, PR and
Videography.
● To report as necessary to the Executive Team, the Company Board and as
required through the organisation’s governance arrangements, on the
performance of the Marketing and Communications Team and the Company.
● To contribute actively to the identification and mitigation of corporate risk.

Project Management

● To project manage corporate projects and take a lead on delivery.
● Establish and maintain appropriate systems to monitor, measure and report on
issues, opportunities and development plans.
● Delivering the objectives set out in the Marketing and Communications Strategic
Delivery plan.

Other Objectives

● Take responsibility for your own continuous professional development and
maintain appropriate level of knowledge and skills pertaining to the role.
● Maintain professional and personal boundaries with all people we support,
families and Carers, colleagues and other professionals.

● Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required of this role and as
requested by Manager(s).

Qualification and Training

● Qualified to degree level or
equivalent experience
● A professional qualification in
Internal Communications or
Marketing, or related fields with
strong communications focus

Experience

● A demonstrable track record in a
similar role, environment or sector

environment

● Proven track record of working with
