A Decade of Difference: Surrey Choices Celebrates 10 Years
Dress to Impress is a small local Fancy Dress Retailer in Ashford High Street. It is a family run business with only two members of staff; a mother and a daughter.
Over the past year Dress to Impress have been working with our EmployAbility team. They have been incredibly supportive by offering work experience to some of our young customers who are also students at Brooklands College. Dress to Impress have always opened their doors to our customers, proving to be a very inclusive and positive employer.
Sometimes we find that it is the smallest of companies that offer some of the best opportunities. The work experience they have provided to customers of EmployAbility have included helping with stock replenishment, customer service, deliveries, learning to use the till, keeping the shop floor tidy as well as gaining other valuable skills such as improving time management, communication, presentability, working with others and taking on individual responsibilities around the shop.
We asked Dress to Impress what they have most enjoyed about providing work experience, and how it has benefitted their business. This is what they said to us:
It is an enjoyable experience for Dress to Impress to support Surrey Choices and EmployAbility. We believe not only as an employer, but as an individual taking on customers requires kindness and the satisfaction that this whole experience gives you the opportunity to make a big difference to a young person’s life.Dress to Impress feel much more a part of the community since building these relationships and offering work experience. It has also benefitted our business as the students are hard and willing workers, getting the job done really well and having more hands is always helpful.
Surrey Choices would like to say a big thank you to Dress to Impress for their on-going support and commitment to helping the Brooklands College students and customers of EmployAbility.
