The Surrey Choices Secret Garden is a community space in Redhill with a secret garden designed by Wisley Level 4 horticultural students. Based in St Anne’s Drive, the garden allows Surrey Choices customers of all ages to get involved with an exciting community project.
The garden centre is run by our customers and supported by staff. Our customers are right at the centre of the project and we help our budding horticulturists to develop their gardening, business and people skills. Their hard work brings many benefits to the general public who enjoy visiting this relaxing and peaceful area. You can join this project at any time as we always welcome new customers who would like to be involved with one of our many vocational projects.
Vocational projects like this help our customers to improve their confidence, gain independence and learn new skills to prepare for the world of work. We have our own modules of learning and provide support for individuals to progress further if they wish onto work experience, voluntary or paid work.
The garden centre is freely open to the public on Monday to Saturday from 9.30am until 3.30pm. It is fully accessible and has a greenhouse for bedding and bulbs with seasonal flowers including bluebells, daffodils, irises, marigolds and sunflowers. Hardy perennials and shrubs are also in the garden including some more unusual varieties. We even have a ‘grow your own’ area and polytunnel for those who like to work on an allotment and produce their own vegetables, fruit and herbs.
This vocational garden project also has a gallery area where we proudly display artwork and craft items from our customers.
