EmployAbility represent at Redhill’s Ability Fair

A jointly hosted event to promote employers and providers of Adult Social Care in the east of Surrey will be attended by the Surrey Choices EmployAbility team to promote both the current carer vacancies and the opportunities Surrey Choices can provide to people with a range of needs and disabilities.

Jobcentre Plus and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council have invited key organisations to Redhill’s Ability Fair, an information sharing event on Tuesday 21 March 2017 at the Redhill Methodist Centre, 2.00pm – 4.00pm.

Surrey Choices EmployAbility have been supporting students from Freemantles School, Woking, in their second placement of the year at The University of Surrey. This is part of their supported internship course which they undertake in their final year at the school to help them on their journey towards work.

Surrey Choices Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Surrey Choices celebrated with an inspirational story for the UN International day of persons with disabilities.

The 3rd December 2015 is the UN International day of persons with disabilities, with the theme this year of inclusion and employment.

To mark this awareness day, Surrey Choices celebrated the achievements of an incredible young man, Anton Brown, who not only conquered Mount Snowdon this year but has also started working for Surrey Choices to inspire others to keep fit and active.

Surrey Choices Customer is Hoping to S‘elf’ Improve This Festive Period

An EmployAbility customer from Surrey Choices is aiming to s‘elf’ improve this festive period as he hopes to become one of Santa’s helpers. Nick Walewski, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, has been involved with Surrey Choices EmployAbility service for over a year.

He desperately wants to fulfil an ambition to play the part of an elf in the run up to Christmas and is on the lookout for a suitable place to try out his ‘elfing’skills.

Surrey Choices EmployAbility, which supports Nick, has launched a search to help fulfil his Christmas wish.

Ashford and St Peter’s support young people with learning disabilities to help with life and work skills

Seven students with learning disabilities from Brooklands College celebrated with a lunch together and a cake baked by one of the students after completing a six month work placement at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals as part of their Learning for Employment And Progression (LEAP) Pathway Entry 3 course, with the support of the Surrey Choices EmployAbility team.
