On Saturday 27th September at a fun filled jamboree, all those applying for travel SMART funding had the opportunity to present their ideas to the community to decide who would get the grants.
Dave O’Connor from Surrey Choices helped swing the vote with a magic trick, but the crowd were all agreed it was a project they wanted to see in their community. The successful partnership between Surrey Choices EmployAbility and the Guildford Bike Project will support 8 disabled residents in Westborough to learn skills and receive support to find work. The Travel SMART team check the criteria, but let the local community decide which projects got funded at the voting day held at Kings College at the Joining In! Jamboree.
Any resident of Westborough and Park Barn over the age of 10 had a chance to vote for the winning projects. This project will build on previous successful partnerships in Guildford between the two teams.
