Our Individual Spotlight is on Marc who is supported by our EmployAbility Team. In his Spotlight, Marc opens up about his employment journey and the skills he has learnt along the way. Read his interview below:

How does Surrey Choices support you?

The EmployAbility Team have supported me in my role at Argos for a very long time. They keep in touch with me and help me to complete new training.

How long have you been working at Argos?

I have been at Argos for over 12 years now.

What skills have you learnt in your job?

I have learnt money management through serving customers on the tills, and how to provide good customer service by talking with and helping anyone who comes into the store.

What is your favourite thing about working there?

I like meeting new people each day and helping them to find what they need.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I practice Tae Kwon Do every week and I like to volunteer as much as possible. I have travelled to different places such as Sri Lanka where I volunteered in villages, helping to improve people’s lives.

What has been one of your proudest moments?

Winning the Employment, Volunteering and Vocational Award at the Celebrating Success Awards in 2023.

How did winning a Celebrating Success Award make you feel?

I felt really pleased with myself for all that I have achieved at work and for making a difference to others through volunteering.

You were on our Judging Panel to help select the 2024 winners, what did you most enjoy about that?

I liked reading the nominations and finding out what people had achieved.
