Our Colleague Spotlight feature is on Priscille Perrin who works within our Travel Choices team at Surrey Choices. Read her interview to find out how she makes a difference to people we support and what it is like being a Travel Coach.
How long have you been working at Surrey Choices?
I have been here for 15 months
What did you do prior to joining us?
I was a Teaching Assistant for a number of years and a Freelance Florist.
What is your favourite thing about working within the Travel Choices team?
We are very close to each other. Everybody is so nice, caring and helpful. We are a marvellous team, I have never worked in such an amazing team environment. It is very supportive and refreshing.
How do you make a difference to someone in your role each day?
I am helping people to build resilience in the world. I support people to be totally independent regarding their travel to their education and social settings, facilitating them to learn skills to be independent and explore the world. Being able to travel safely and independently opens up so many opportunities.
What has been a big learning curve for you since working at Surrey Choices?
How important it is to keep your word and how to be consistent in my own life, in friendships, and also as a mother to a young teenage girl.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I am a keen walker and hiker. I am also hugely into fitness, including regular outdoor swimming and weightlifting.
What is something you would like to accomplish in life?
I would love to work with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Africa and have my own farm where I could grow everything I need and be totally sustainable.
