Our Colleague Spotlight feature is on Petra-Maria Knight who is one of our Area Operations Managers at Surrey Choices. Read her interview below to learn about her career progression with Surrey Choices and the most important parts of her role.
How long have you worked at Surrey Choices?
I first started as an Administrator at Lockwood in April 2015. In 2017, I left for three months but returned to Surrey Choices even more committed to what we do. I took over the mainline, and then became a Care Quality Coordinator for the East Surrey in 2020. I am now the Area Operations Manager for the same area.
How are you finding settling in to your new role?
There is still a lot to learn but I am really enjoying getting to know the people we support and the teams better. I am excited about being out and about more, as well creating new partnerships.
What does your new day-to-day look like?
Full of emails and phone calls
What has been your proudest moment at Surrey Choices?
I cannot think of a specific moment, there have been many times when I have heard great comments about the service we provide and how positively it affects people’s lives, and that makes me proud to work here.
What is something people might not know about you?
I go bell-ringing every week – started in 2021 and I’m now ringing for services and weddings!
What do you like doing outside of work?
Apart from bell-ringing, I love going to the seaside – there is something special about it, and also my little boy loves it too.
