Homeless Project – A Gift for All
Hard work was paid off this week when people from Cranstock, the Harbour and the Farnham Community Group took the items they have been collecting to Vaughan House homeless shelter in Guildford. Those involved in the Homeless Project have been working tirelessly to learn about the difficulties that the homeless face, especially in winter, such as the cold weather, finding warm food, and keeping clean.
In total, they collected 20 boxes of food items, toiletries, clothes and blankets by asking people in their local communities to donate items. They met some of the people who would be directly benefit from their work. When speaking to the people at Vaughan house, one person said “It really makes a difference to us to know that people are out there that think of us, so to know that people are out there that care for us makes us feel good.”
West Community Choices told us “It was great chatting to the people at Vaughan House. I leant so much about them as people, and the troubles they have been through and the courage they have shown to overcome difficulties.”
Being involved in this project has made the people we support really eager help others, and are looking forward to seeing the new friends they have made at Vaughan House in the future. Watch the video here.
