Independent Living with FlexiChoices
As part of Kelly’s support with FlexiChoices, she wanted to learn more about horticulture and wildlife in time for Spring and Summer so she could make the most of her garden and outdoor space.
Kelly has been spending some time researching the different types of wildlife including birds and bugs, as well as plants, to learn more about how to help look after the natural environment and the species that thrive off it.
Whilst researching, Kelly found some great projects to increase her gardening skills and knowledge, which she could leave in her garden and monitor over the next few months.
One of these projects included making a bird house and a bug house to provide shelter and somewhere for the wildlife in her garden. She already had two plant pots that were not being used and so decided to paint them her favourite colours and designs.
Over the next few weeks, Kelly will be spending time learning about bees and how the plants they like help them to live. She also wanted to have a go at planting something for her garden and has decided to try out sowing sunflower seeds and learn how to care for them to help them grow.
