Multiply It
Commissioners from Surrey County Council visited The Civic Centre to see some of the provision being delivered as part of the Multiply contract. Multiply is a government-funded programme to help people improve their numeracy skills. Chris Simms is Surrey Choices’ Multiply Lead and introduced the commissioners to people at The Civic Centre, sharing a numeracy session with them to show how they are learning new math skills.
They also spoke with Numeracy Champion, Gordon Muir, who had specifically designed these sessions for the people we support to help them gain confidence with maths:
“I am not always a confident person with complex maths, so I was not sure if I could be the Numeracy Champion, but Chris reassured me and since running the sessions, I can see how much of a difference it is making to people’s day to day lives”
Reflecting on their visit, Justine, one of the commissioners said:
“Numeracy is part of everyone’s lives, so it was fantastic to see Surrey Choices using innovative ways of making it accessible and fun for everyone.”
