Spotlights Celebrate One Year of Performing
Spotlights are an inclusive, disability performing arts group, whose members have a range of physical and learning disabilities. They meet every Friday and learn various disciplines from song and dance, acting, playing instruments, but most of all having fun and expanding on their confidence and abilities.
Their performances are fully inclusive with sign language pieces and using interactive technologies such as electronic musical instrument apps and speech buttons to support non-verbal participants.
Over their first year as a group, they have performed for two Mayors of Runnymede, the local MP, and are due to perform at Hampton Court Palace in the near future. They sang at a showcase recently to mark their first year, which was well received with no empty seats in the theatre! They performed a range of songs including Shallow, Mamma Mia and a comedy sketch about Henry VII and his wives.
One parent told us “It was so good to see my son back performing on the stage.”
