Surrey Choices’ EmployAbility team has teamed up with University of Surrey to offer a range of work experience placements for students from Freemantles school (a school for people with Autism). For two terms, students will be able to access roles including office support, catering, retail and facilities allowing students to gain the skills they need to go out into the world of work.
The students, who have already experienced interviews and have attended taster sessions, will begin work in the new year. EmployAbility will be working with the students and employer to ensure the students get a real experience of work.
The aim of this project is to prepare people for their future in employment. These work placements will support people to learn the skills needed to develop careers, helping build confidence, independence and ambition.
Christina Earl manager of EmployAbility said; “We a thrilled to be able to offer people this opportunity, it gives them a great start to their CVs and opens up a number of opportunities for their future in employment.”
