On Bank Holiday Monday, seven brave staff members from Surrey Choices took part in the Emirates Spinnaker Tower Abseil Challenge to raise fund for the Wetwheels foundation. Our ambition is to raise £2000 to support more of our customers to go out on the water.
We would like to say a huge well done to all of our them who successfully completed the 100m abseil down the tower.
The team were supported hugely by not only their colleagues and families but also a number of customers, who came all the way to Portsmouth to cheer them on and give them the courage to do their abseils.
Some of the team were particularly nervous and would not have made it over the edge without this support.
“It was an amazing day and we were so touched by all of the people who came to watch and we are all completely overwhelmed by their support. The atmosphere today made us feel very proud to be part of Surrey Choices.” Jeannette Crisp, Associate Director of HR and OD, after her jump.
Thank you to all those who have donated and for those who would like to do so go to. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Surreychoices
Wetwheels is a Community Interest, not for profit, company established in March 2013. The organisation was formed in response to a demand from disabled people wanting access to the sea which is denied to many due to barriers of access. This has been made possible with the acquisition of a unique, fully adapted and fully inclusive, custom-built powerboat called Wetwheels. The concept was piloted from September 2011 and to date, more than 1,500 disabled, disadvantaged and elderly people, including Surrey Choices customers have had the opportunity to participate on Wetwheels.
