Colleague Spotlight: Denise
Our Colleague Spotlight feature is on Denise who is a Transport Administrator. Read Denise’s interview below to find out what she loves most about her job and what she is looking forward to in 2021.
What do you most love about your job?
I love that every day is so different. Each day brings new challenges which I am able to solve for someone we support or a colleague to make their day better. I really enjoy that I have a lot of communication with colleagues across the whole of Surrey Choices.
Can you give us insight into what a working day looks like for you?
I start the day by going through my emails and responding to them. I might receive a transport request for a customer or it could be something such as a vehicle problem. I will spend time liaising with the garage booking in repairs. I visit our Activity Centres, inspecting our vehicles to make sure that they are safe and comply with guidelines. My top priority has been ensuring Covid-19 cleaning guidelines are being followed.
What is something you look forward to being a part of at Surrey Choices?
I look forward to being involved with shaping our new way of working and being part of the changes. I love seeing the Transport department meet all of the needs and expectations of the people we support. This is an exciting time and will bring new challenges for the Transport department.
How has travel and transport changed over the last year at Surrey Choices?
Routes were reduced during the pandemic as there were less people travelling. The Transport department has remained extremely busy throughout the lockdown and we have been able to transfer our records electronically to enable us to be as paperless as possible which has been a great outcome for the department.
What is something you hope to achieve in 2021?
I hope to continue to progress with my role as Transport Administrator, and to continue to learn new computer skills as a result of working virtually.
What three words would your family or friends use to describe you?
Positive, fun, helpful!
